| Open letter to all members from your board of directors, 12/29/2005 OUR 50+ SOFTBALL LEAGUE IS MAKING PROGRESS FOR 2006! This letter to all of our managers and members is to give you our assurance that we have an exciting new year ahead of us. Many of you know that we went through a period of adjustments based on the unfair tactics of some past members who prefer to have their own league. We as a board addressed the situation head on and resolved this matter by moving forward and putting all the political issues behind us. Some of the new areas we have addressed: 1. Thanks to Jake Magee and his hard working rules committee, we have revamped some of the rules to be more player friendly in favor of all our softball members. We have devoted our total efforts toward the fun of playing softball vs. some of rule constraints of the past. 2. We have reviewed and are in the process of selecting new ball fields for all the various playing levels of our players including the 60+ Draft Teams for Saturday. Freemon Jefferson will direct Saturday play, and he would like to start a 50+ Draft. 3. The board is assigning various board members job responsibilities like the new website, new tournaments, advertising for new membership, addressing all the players feedback and other areas to help improve our league’s future direction. We will have a long range plan in place soon for our growth and benevolence. Overall, we as your elected board members are working for each and every ball player’s benefit. We are always open to constructive feedback for new ideas, new concepts to help make our league the best 50+ league possible. We formed this league 16 years ago and will make every effort for it to continue on successfully. Remember, the league’s progress and growth is up to you as an individual. Our job is to represent your best interests at heart. Each one of the board members consist of players just like you… both from Missouri and Kansas. We are a unified group of men and women from both sides of the state line who really enjoy the game of playing softball. So let us put the past (gossip) aside and look forward to the new challenges and a new positive horizon for 2006. We have a tentative manager’s meeting set for January 21st at the church. | Saturday October 21, 2006 The league's by-laws require an annual membership meeting, which this year will be held on Saturday October 21st at the South Broadland Presbyterian Chuch. Parking is available on the north and south sides of the church. You may enter the West (rear) entrance of the church. Proceed through the kitchen to the fellowship hall. Coffee and doughnuts will be available at 9:15 am with the meeting starting at 9:30 am. All players should have received a mailing. If you did not receive a mailing, please contact Wes Weddle @ 816-941-3878. There are 5 pages in the mailing. Pages 1 & 2 announces the meeting with some news of the League. Page 3 is a ballot for you to vote on 4 board members and fax or mail or bring to the meeting. If ballot is mailed, postmark must be prior to Oct 16th. Pages 5 thru 7 are survey sheets which we hope you will complete and return so we may have input about League operation. Page 9 shows the financial condition of the League. |
