Harrah’s has heart
Nine area organizations will receive Powerheart Automated External Defibrillators donated by Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino and Hotel.

Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. Recently joined with Cardiac Science Inc. Of Irvine, Calif., to donate 66 of the devices to nonprofit organizations nationwide. The emergency medical devices shock the heart back into normal rhythm. More than 600 groups applied for a device under the charitable program. The companies said selected recipients demonstrated the strongest need and prelimarily served senior citizens in areas where Harrah’s operates. Each device is valued at $2,500.

Area recipients are the
Kansas City Zoo; Edgerton-Trimble Fire Protection District, Edgerton; Swope Ridge Geriatric Center, Kansas City; KC Metro 50+ Softball, Kansas City; The Palmer Center, Independence; VFW Post 7356, Parkville; Oak Grove Senior Center; St. Clair County Health Center, Osceola, MO; and the American Stroke Foundation, Overland Park.
